Just because we are in the IT(Information Technology) line doesn’t mean we don’t know how to party. No only we have plenty of fun but we often mixed work with pleasure!
Recently our President, Joshua Galloway, attended a game workshop help by Multimedia Development Corporation at the KLCC(Kuala Lumpur Convention Center)
. Together with Brett Biddy, CEO of GameBrains Sdn Bhd and Michael Ooi the lead designer from Phoenix Game Studio Sdn Bhd, they form the judges for the MSC Malaysia Game Design Competition 2006.

Henry Jenkins, a MIT Professor made a study into some of the most popular misconception about games portrait by media, politician and activist group. Professor Jenkins attemp to seperate the facts from the fiction for the general public, which his article “Reality Bytes: Eight Myths About Video Games Debunked”.
Among the eight myths are such frequent statement such as;
- The availability of video games has led to an epidemic of youth violence.
- Because games are used to train soldiers to kill, they have the same impact on the kids who play them.
- Video game play is desensitizing.

Gaming are always though to be belong solely to the 13 to 35 year old male demography. As we enter the new age of digital distribution and casual game, a major shift in gamers demography has appear. Female gamers who have long though to be but a myth is making their way into the spot light as they form a formidable buying force in the industry and some trend setter.
Based on article published on BusinessWeek, a survey performed by Consumer Electronics Association (reported in The New York Times), female gamers form up to 65% of the 25 to 34 gamer age group. Most often opt for low competitive casual game which require minimal time invested as oppose to hardcore PC titles and premium console games.
Popcap, a popular online gaming portal and publisher, release a profile on a study of their gamers. As off April 2006 out of the response received, Casual game top the chart at 29% as the most popular genre to be followed by Strategy game and Action/Fighting game at 17% and 16% respectively.
